The Medway Towns have been designated as one of the “Zones of Change” in the Area Investment Framework for North Kent. Major projects in the area include:

• The development of Chatham as a city Centre for the area, together with riverside developments across Medway.
• Improving the port area at Grain and connections to it.
• A new Medway Transit system to link the towns together
• Business development, particularly in advanced engineering, business and finance and creative industries

The major education development will be the creation of the Universities at Medway campus bringing all of the main Higher Education institutions in Kent together, including the University of Greenwich, the University of Kent and Christ Church University. These institutions will be joined by Mid Kent College to establish a campus area providing a range of educational choices for the whole of the Gateway.
